Privacy policy
What we collect when you join VoxLore, why we collect it, and how to delete it.
Version 2026-10-30-draft
Pending review. This privacy policy is a draft. It describes what joining on the website does today, and a reviewed version will replace it.
Who we are
VoxLore is a living archive of human voices: people tell life stories out loud, and others listen. This policy covers voxlore.com, including joining VoxLore on the website at voxlore.com/join, and the VoxLore app. “We” means the VoxLore team. A Member is a person who has joined VoxLore with an email link, Google or Apple.
You must be 18 or older
VoxLore is for people 18 or older. Before you sign in on the website, we ask for your birth date and for you to confirm you’re 18 or older. Your browser checks your age. If you’re under 18, the page stops there and nothing is sent to us.
What we collect
- Your sign-in. Your email address, and the way you sign in (an email link, Google or Apple). Google and Apple tell us your email address and an identifier for your account; we never see your password.
- Your Member profile. Your first and last name, birth date, birth place (city and state), About, Passion For and legacy statement, and whether you choose to show your birth date and birth place.
- Your photo, if you add one. The website crops it to a square and makes it smaller before uploading it.
- Your Beta Interest. Which phone you use (iPhone or Android), whether you want to listen, tell stories or both, whether you want to be considered for the beta, whether you want Founding plan news, and when you agreed to this policy and the Terms, with their versions, and confirmed your age.
Why we collect it
- To create your Member and let you sign in to VoxLore, on the website now and in the app later, with the same sign-in.
- To show your Member profile in the app, so your stories are credited to you.
- To choose beta testers and plan the beta, using your phone type and interests, if you ask to be considered.
- To send you Founding plan news, only if you ask for it.
- To send you one email confirming you joined (see below).
- To count how many people join, complete their profile and later sign in to the app. We look at these as totals.
Who can see it
Your birth date and birth place stay private unless you choose to show them on your profile. Your name, photo, About, Passion For and legacy statement can be seen by other Members in the app, as your Member profile. Your Beta Interest and email address are only visible to you and to the VoxLore team.
We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use it for advertising.
When you join on the website we send you one email. It confirms you joined, names the sign-in to use in the app (so you don’t create a second, empty Member), links back to voxlore.com/join to edit your details, and explains how to delete your Member. If you asked for Founding plan news, we email you about it, and you can turn that off on the website at any time.
Emails are sent through the Firebase Trigger Email extension and an email delivery provider, which receive your email address and the message so they can deliver it.
Where your information is kept
VoxLore runs on Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Storage and Cloud Functions). Your information is stored there, and the website uses Google reCAPTCHA to keep bots out. These providers process your information for us.
Delete your Member
You can delete your Member yourself, without asking anyone:
- Go to voxlore.com/join and sign in the same way you joined.
- Choose Delete my account and type DELETE to confirm. If you signed in more than a few minutes ago, we ask you to sign in again first.
This deletes your Member profile, your photos, your Beta Interest, your confirmation email record and your sign-in. It can’t be undone.

Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, its version at the top of this page changes too. We record the version you agreed to when you join.
